4 Ways to Get Closer to the Stars (Without Leaving Home)

Sometimes life here on Earth can feel completely overwhelming. We've all been there: Somehow the minutiae of day-to-day life digs its claws into you and before you know it, you're throwing your keys at the wall after your purse strap got caught on the door handle and wishing you were soaring past Mars in a Tesla Roadster.

While many of us may not ever make it past the stratosphere, there are ways you can bring the cosmos to you - to help gain a little perspective when you need it most.

1. Set a galaxy photo as your wallpaper.

Most people have nothing but email screens and stress windows up on their computer while they're working. When you can finally close all your programs, there's nothing quite like a breathtaking nebula to help reframe your perspective.

2. Follow space photographers on Instagram.

There are thousands of accounts that post striking photos of the Milky Way. Follow hashtags like #milkywaychasers and #astrophotography to have a feed filled with stars.

3. Download the Star Tracker app.

It allows you to easily identify celestial bodies that you can see with the naked eye or a home telescope. Simply open the app, point it at the sky, and see what's out there.

4. Get a VR headset.

Virtual Reality is finally here for the masses. VR headsets are extremely affordable these days, and there's really nothing quite like it. Once you have the system, you can find a whole host of space adventure VR programs for your space-viewing pleasure.
